Walt recognized in the Communication category for connecting frontline workers with real-time, accountable, hierarchy-free communication
WICHITA, Kan. — Sept. 8, 2026 — weavix, a leading innovator in frontline worker communication and safety technology, is proud to announce that its Walt Smart Radio System has been awarded a 2026 Pro Tool Innovation Award (PTIA) in the Communication category, recognized for connecting the most overlooked and disconnected workers on a jobsite: frontline workers. This marks the program’s 14th year of recognizing the most innovative and leading-edge tools, accessories, and fasteners across the construction, automotive, landscaping, professional trade, and DIY markets.
The 2026 Pro Tool Innovation Awards saw nearly 400 entries from more than 100 manufacturers who presented new and innovative products in over a dozen categories. These entries were carefully reviewed by a panel of judges comprised of industry experts and trade professionals who lent their expertise in evaluating and selecting the winning products. The sheer number of entries this year testifies to the level of competition in the marketplace, as well as the nonstop innovation that is prevalent in these industries. The PTIA judges had the following to say about the Walt Smart Radio System:
“Weavix developed the Walt Smart Radio System to connect the most overlooked and disconnected workers on a jobsite – frontline workers. Walt combines the best of two-way radio and smartphone technology into a purpose-built smart radio, powered by custom software that runs on rugged, location-aware hardware and extends to smartphones for off-site management. Unlike a two-way radio or a personal phone, Walt delivers full worker accountability through smart geofencing, a system of record, and unlimited permission-based channels that cut down on radio chatter across a site. Each device has a touchscreen and buttons built to work with gloves, and carries Class 1 Div. 2 safety certification for operation in hazardous conditions.”
“The breakthrough is letting anyone with a Walt send and receive the information to the right person at the right moment, then capturing that exchange as a record rather than letting it disappear the instant a radio call ends. Administered across an entire crew rather than limited to supervisors, Walt removes the communication hierarchy that has isolated frontline workers from decision-makers since the industry lost Nextel’s dedicated network in 2013. A worker on a construction site can reach a superintendent, safety officer, or subcontractor lead directly through a structured channel instead of relaying a message up a chain of command or stopping work to track someone down. Sold as a service in batches to construction teams, Walt turns jobsite communication from a basic operational necessity into a collaborative system of record and a safety net built for the toughest conditions.”

“Each year, the Pro Tool Innovation Awards honor those products that shake up the industry and carve new pathways for performance, ergonomics, features, and value,” said Clint DeBoer, General Manager for the PTIA. “We are thrilled to see the level of innovation this year continue to make often dramatic strides. This awards program showcases just how much product development is leveraging new technologies and manufacturing efficiencies to make a real impact for consumers.”
Now in its 14th year, the PTIA judging panel of industry experts and professionals selected winners based on an in-depth evaluation of what makes these products innovative in their respective fields. The 2026 Pro Tool Innovation Award winners represent companies and products that are shaping the construction, landscaping, automotive, and manufacturing industries.
Reflecting on this year’s Pro Tool Innovation Awards, Kenny Koehler, Editor-in-Chief for Pro Tool Reviews, added, “We saw some truly competitive entries in the awards this year. We are privileged to be able to call out those tools and products that set new standards for performance and value. Being a Pro Tool Innovation Awards Winner is a true mark of excellence in a very competitive industry that moves quickly.”
“Frontline workers have been handed the same outdated two-way radios for decades while everyone else in the company moved on to smartphones,” said Kevin Turpin, founder and CEO of weavix. “This award tells us the industry agrees that has to change. Walt puts real communication and real accountability directly into the hands of the people doing the work – that is who we built it for.”
The Walt Smart Radio System pairs push-to-talk communication with hierarchy-free connectivity, letting people on the ground reach exactly who they need, directly. It carries Class 1 Div. 2 hazardous-location certification, IP68 water and dust protection, glove-friendly touchscreen controls, a dedicated SOS button and support for both Wi-Fi and LTE. Voice, text, photo and video messaging are built in, along with automatic translation and message acknowledgment tracking. Walt is sold as a service, so companies can scale it to fit any size operation.
This year’s winners made strides across materials, connectivity and worker-facing technology. Product teams continue to demonstrate an ability to meet industry demands for products that outperform the market, and the Pro Tool Innovation Awards are clear evidence of those efforts and achievements.
