Leading U.S. aircraft services provider achieves 5–10-minute time savings per operation across multiple airport locations while improving accountability and emergency response capabilities

WICHITA, Kan. — July 9, 2025 — Weavix, the maker of the Walt® Smart Radio System, announced that PrimeFlight Aviation Services has successfully deployed Walt Smart Radios across multiple airport fueling stations, delivering significant operational improvements and enhanced safety response capabilities for the leading aircraft services provider.
PrimeFlight, which services most leading airlines, began implementing the Walt Smart Radio System in early 2024 at Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) and Kansas City International (MCI) airports, before expanding to Denver (DEN), Seattle-Tacoma (SEA), San Jose (SJC), and, most recently, Memphis (MEM). The deployment has transformed how PrimeFlight’s fueling teams coordinate time-sensitive operations across busy airport environments.
“The Walt Smart Radio System by weavix has been a game-changer for our operations,” said Conner Lovell, Operations Manager at PrimeFlight’s Kansas City International Airport operation. “Walt Smart Radios save us anywhere from five to 10 minutes per refueling each airplane, with instant communication. That five minutes could cause a costly delay because we’re not over there quickly enough.”
In aviation fueling, delays have an immediate financial impact, making every minute of PrimeFlight’s turnaround window critical. Airline delay costs average $100.80 per minute, according to Airlines for America’s 2023 industry data.
The Walt system addressed critical challenges PrimeFlight faced with traditional radio systems that couldn’t meet their demanding requirements. Previous systems suffered from poor connectivity coverage, poor use in inclement weather, and unreliable hardware that frequently broke when dropped.
“If we are taking delays in the daily operation, it affects our relationships with our customers,” explained Lovell. “The airlines count on us to perform the job safely, correctly, and on time, which the Walt Smart Radios help us do on a daily basis. Walt holds everybody accountable.”
The radio’s transcription and playback features have proven particularly valuable for PrimeFlight’s teams operating in high-noise environments at airports. The system creates an auditable record with timestamps that helps resolve delay disputes with airlines and maintain accountability.
“The timestamps help us to go back and show when the fueler was at the aircraft,” Lovell shared.
The customizable group communication capability ensures that emergency calls reach only the right people immediately, not everyone. This instant response capability has proven critical for safety incidents. When fuel spills occur, teams can respond within minutes to prevent environmental contamination that would otherwise trigger costly EPA investigations.
“At weavix, we understand the critical nature of aviation ground operations where every minute counts,” said Kevin Turpin, Founder and CEO of weavix. “PrimeFlight’s success with Walt demonstrates how the right communication technology can eliminate delays, improve safety response, and strengthen customer relationships in a demanding industry. We’re proud to support their mission-critical operations with technology built specifically for frontline teams.”
